About

This is the home of Highland Home Cook’s Blog.  I’m always talking about food, so writing about it and taking photos of it comes naturally.

I started my cooking business in 2015, although I have been cooking for considerably longer.  Initially delivering fresh home cooked food to people who wanted a hand at mealtimes, I am currently baking for markets and special orders.  You can find me every second Saturday at the Cromarty Community Market in the Victoria Hall, and at various other places and events throughout the year.

My style is eclectic, largely based around using fresh vegetables, herbs and spices, although not exclusively vegetarian.  My baking is based on flavour and texture rather than fancy decorating skills and lots of sugary toppings.  I have a great love of bread and am always trying different styles and techniques.  I love Asian flavours and routinely cook vegetables and fish dishes from the Indian sub-continent.

I have no claim to fame (although I have cooked with Ainsley Harriet and in the Masterchef heats).  My aim is to share my enthusiasm for food and the journeys it can take us on.  I hope you will have some fun joining me.
